Solutions for a Clean Sustainable Future

Accelerating the clean energy transition

Decarbonizing the heaviest of industries with the lightest footprint: no water, no waste, nothing toxic. Our patented technology produces no carbon dioxide emissions, generates hydrogen, and creates usable, clean solid carbon with an affordable, scalable, and portable process.

ETCH IS THE LEADER IN CLEAN HYDROGEN FROM METHANE DECOMPOSITION

  • SCALABLE
  • LOWER COST
  • EASILY INTEGRATED
  • NO WATER USE

THE ETCH PROCESS™

ETCH’s revolutionary decarbonization technology delivers unrivaled economic value and versatility that will accelerate the clean energy transition. It scales from small, distributed uses to utility-scale with wide geographic applicability and without dependence on access to water, wind or solar.

Process Overview

  • The ETCH Process™ is a novel, patented process to convert natural gas (methane) into hydrogen and solid carbon. No CO2 is ever created

Hydrogen Production

  • Pure H2 production with zero CO2 emissions by decarbonizing hydrocarbon fuels
  • Small footprint, high efficiency, and easily scaled
  • No water
  • The ETCH Process™ is based on new, proprietary thermochemistry with earth-abundant, domestically sourced minerals
  • The future will see dramatically increased usage of hydrogen – to be made via the ETCH Process™

Decarbonization

  • The ETCH Process™ can be integrated into existing natural gas power plants, industrial facilities and other uses
  • Gas is stripped of carbon, leaving pure hydrogen fuel
  • CO2 emissions are reduced, potentially to zero

Carbon Materials

  • Every ton of hydrogen produces at least three tons of pure solid carbon
  • ETCH Process™ carbon is pure and has passed a TCLP test – the standard for environmentally responsible large-scale storage or disposal
  • As-made carbon may find use in current carbon markets (carbon black, activated carbon, synthetic graphite)
  • ETCH is actively pursuing methods to transform and integrate carbon into high value products such as fiber
